Forage Sampling

We offer forage sampling services for collecting, shipping, and analyzing through blank Dairy One. Contact Matthew Karas, Conservation Outreach Coordinator, to schedule your soil sampling and to receive an estimate!  (413) 362-4720 or MatthewHHCD@gmail.com

If you are a farmer working with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), you may be eligible for reimbursement with your conservation plan.

Dairy One offers a simple sampling method and results are available between 1-2 weeks. You can find information about these services on their website here. The routine test can be found below:

NIR Testing

Near Infrared Reflectance spectroscopy (NIR) is a sophisticated technique for rapidly analyzing common forages and grains and is recognized by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) as an official method of analysis. Multiple components are determined simultaneously making results available typically within 24 hours of receipt by the lab. Dairy One offers the most comprehensive NIR analysis available making it our most popular service and the choice of feed industry professionals.

At Dairy One, NIR can be used to analyze the feed types listed in the accompanying applicability chart. Any sample requesting a NIR package that is not suitable for a NIR analysis, will automatically be given the (11) Ration Balancer package. When considering NIR services, please check the chart below to be sure that your samples are eligible:
